Auto-Mobility
Quick Facts on the Ecosystem
From our initial experiences in the automotive sector in the late 1990s, focusing on helping clients primarily in automotive sales, marketing, after-sales and distribution development strategies and improve business performance, CVA has continued to work with car makers, national importers, leasing companies, captive finance houses, rent-a-car, dealer groups and motor insurance providers as the industry has transformed into one of the most interesting, exciting and challenging spaces to work in, and which we now serve via our global Auto-Mobility platform.
Our client base includes household names in the US, Europe, the Far East and the rest of the world, working at a national, regional and global level.
Our traditional industry experience spans the entire value chain from the point at which vehicles leave the factory gate to their ultimate scrappage at end of life, and includes retail and fleet markets, new and used vehicles, and both passenger cars and light commercial vehicles.
Macro trends and business implications on the ecosystem:
More recently, the industry has been in the early stages of a disruptive transformation that may take decades to fully play out, driven by environmental legislation, electrification, the development of advanced driver assistance systems and fully autonomous vehicles, the rise of the connected car, increasing interest in usership over ownership plus the associated shift from selling products to selling services, and the acceleration of the digitization of purchase and customer interaction processes.
All these trends have the potential to substantially change the economics of the industry and lead to a fundamental restructuring of the emerging mobility ecosystem, with major winners and losers being created. More prosaically, global automotive growth is slowing as mature markets stagnate and growth in emerging markets cools, manufacturing overcapacity remains a major issue, enormous investments need to be made to stay in the game, and high profile disruptive entrants have yet to succeed in turning a profit. For many, the stakes have the potential to be existential.
Platform vision & service offering:
In this environment, our work has shifted into supporting clients in their aspirations to become significant mobility service providers; digital transformation of operations; and strategic restructuring of operations, organizations, activity footprints and even business models as incumbents look to future proof their businesses and stake out future positions in what will become a much more complex and fragmented mobility market.
